Great Location Downtown Galway
we went to the Forster after having a rough night in another local hotel. we were very pleased with the bed ... quite comfortable. aside from the floor of the bathtub being EXTREMELY slippery, the accommodations were great ... clean bathroom big plus for me! had breakfast in the bar, pretty decent irish breakfast.

Spanish Arch in the pedestrian area has lots of neat little nooks and crannies to hide in, watch a football game and enjoy a beer

Nice rooms, great location
Excellent staff, locations couldn;t have been better - not even two block from the train station and ferry, several good restaurants close by.

Train and Ferry just 2 blocks away anfd center of twon was only 4 blocks....not need for cabs...grat bus service to the beaches and Sal Hill.

This is a great hotel in a fantastic location. Rooms were large and clean. Beds were a little hard but my husband thought it was just fine. Location is great, a minute walk from Eyre Square and 5 minutes from the harbor. Staff is extremely helpful. The best part about them is if your driving a car you can pull up and they will have someone drive your car to the car park and give you a discount. So you don't have to struggle with trying to find a garage or parking. Was a huge help. They also will go and get it when you return. Dont forget that tip or you will go crazy trying to find a place to park.

Missable city
When we arrived, I asked for a quiet room. The clerk ignored me and handed us keys for a room on the 1st floor. I asked if we could be on the top floor. She said that the 1st floor was the quietest and that we would have to wait for a room on the 3rd floor. We checked the room on the 1st floor, it was right on the street. When we went back to ask for the room on the 3rd floor, the two people ahead of us got rooms on the 3rd floor without waiting. Again she told us we would have to wait for the 3rd floor. When we checked the room on the 1st floor again, we noticed that it was a smoking room and reeked of cigarette smoke. The clerk finally agreed to give a room on the 3rd floor but we had to wait 45 minutes for the room. She apologized for the wait but it was too little and too late.

We took the bus trip to the Cliffs of Moher. It was very enjoyable but Galway itself is very small and has tons of tourists. Definitely stayed too long (3 nights). This is a missable city.
