Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon

We found this hotel to have pretty decent sized rooms for Paris. You hear such nightmares about the room sizes. We rented two rooms and for some reason one of the rooms was for a handicapped person. There was no "Shower" per se you just showered in the middle of the bathroom. Not sure why they would think that's OK for others. The staff was hit or miss. What you hear about Parisians is unfortunately mostly true, but there were some really great people on the staff also. This hotel is really a business hotel. It is not located in the middle of the tourist areas. It is, however, next to one of the city's largest subway stations, so getting around was very easy, and the price was considerably less than if you were two blocks away from the Louvre or Eiffel Tower,

Our location was excellent, because you could either walk to many of the sights or take one of their trains, because the metro is right there. We were only a block away from the Gare de Lyon and we could easily make our next connection by walking over to it. The area offers great restaurants and some fabulous museums. The Gare De Lyon has a very special Restaurant called Le Blue Traine worth seeing if not going to.

Der Service war freundlich, das professionelle Niveau lag speziell in Restaurant aber unter dem Niveau französischer Gastlichkeit.

For a three star hotel, this is good value for money in expensive Paris. Location right next to the Gare de Lyon was very convenient for us to depart on a trip from that station. It is a definite plus that the hotel has a pool (given its 3 star rating.)

This hotel was very well located, because you could either walk to many of the wonderful sites or easily take a train. The location was next to the Gare de Lyon. The room was well appointed and there was plenty of room for the luggage, without having to climb over them because the room was small. The bathroom was very convenient with places to put any of our cosmetics. There was also a separate toilet room. In addition, there was a nice lounge area with comfortable seating. I would highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel has nice facilities incl. nice lobby, nice quiet rooms, good beds and good bath facilities, by European stds. The neighborhood is very accessible with excellent metro and bus service and can be reached from CDG airport by Air France shuttle bus No. 4. The bus stops about 50 yards from the front door. The problem was staff was not always pleasant. Check in and check out were fine. But I waited two hours for someone to come fix our room safe. With my second call after waiting 20 minutes they nearly hung up on me, and when they did show up (after a 3rd call) claimed the safe was never broken - after they fixed it! They also locked the room refrigerator after we put our own drink in there - and literally threw our water away! There are many restaurants and take out places in the area, most of them very avg. quality. Our room rate included breakfast, which was barely worth going to except for the fresh croissants. One other issue, which we've encountered elsewhere in Europe and may be an issue for some folks: they don't put top sheets on the beds, only a blanket. The blanket did appear to be clean. With a few improvements, believe it or not, this place could be MUCH better.

Room was great for a family: split bathroom; sofabed; pool, etc. Wonderful neighborhood. Helpful tip: Ask the front desk to remove everything from the minibar...then use it a a fridge. We bought croissants, butter, juice and saved a fortune on breakfasts using the fridge and the coffeemaker in the room.

Room was very small for the price we paid, and the reception didn't even answer calls. The reception staff were a little deceptive when "reminding" us to join the breakfast at a certain time. We double-checked if the breakfast was included and he said it would cost an extra 15 euro per person but a sign behind him said it should be only 8 euro.
