Hotel Astor Saint Honore

We arrived to find that the part of the reservation we had made with credit card points had not been received and they expected us the following day. This may have been e bookers fault rather than the hotel's. However, as I had confirmation of the booking, with minimum fuss we were allocated rooms. The rooms were not very big but were of a decent standard, clean and comfortable. The hotel has again a comfortable feel, smart without being impersonal. The concierge staff were extremely polite and helpful, providing advice, directions and booking restaurants and taxis. Breakfast appeared a little hectic and perhaps a bit under staffed but they were again all very polite and helpful. The location is very good, within easy walking distance of most of the main attractions, but within a quiet street. The bar prices were steep for a simple northern bloke. My wife left a ring in the room and we have been promptly told it has been found and we are awaiting its return. Excellent house keeping. All in all our trip to Paris was enhanced by the stay at this hotel, predominantly due to the demeanour of the staff.

Room was very nice, comfortable. However, I thought the bell boys and concierge (especially gentleman with the glasses) really helped make our stay special. They were always on hand to help, and were always happy to help - I found them fantastic and extremely nice and helpful! They truly enhanced our trip! There is a nice bar in the lobby where we enjoyed a good reasonably priced red bordeau by the glass, the cheese plate, and the creme brulee! There is a metro stop within a three - five minute stroll.

Overall, the room was comfortable but the special touch was the terry robe. It was a wonderful surprise. My only comment is that the cleaning staff was so late in getting around to cleaning the room. By late afternoon and a full day of walking and touring, we were ready to get in the room for a little rest. Several times we tried only to find the staff cleaning or getting ready to clean. So we sat in the lobby to give them time to finish their job. Any return to Paris will definitely include this hotel.

Hotel was safe, clean in a good location, and the staff were really friendly and polite, but with this price you expect more amneties, like a PC in room and at least the 110 V electricity outlet.

We stayed for 7 days, & were hoping for a 4 star hotel, as listed. However, if you are comparing to American hotels, this is a 3 star. Needs work in corridors, needs wi-fi, somewhere to plug a USB, new TVs. We used the iron, and the circuits popped, leaving us with no electricity and having to call at 2 am for help. Nothing luxury abou this. The closet is tiny and no drawers anywhere, and no where to hide your luggage. You have to ask for an iron. Then they take it. On the other hand, it was an OK hotel, with very friendly staff. The room is clean, the bed is comfortable, location not too bad. Although the staff is great, next time, we will look elsewhere.
