Grand Hotel De Turin

Nous avons été très contentes de l'hôtel: quartier animé mais rue calme, bon accueil, chambre et salle de bains impeccables, bon petit déjeuner copieux, atmosphère familiale. Nous y retournerons volontiers et vous le conseillons.

I stayed at this hotel in early July and as it was my hen weekend myself and my four friends were very excited. I have been to Paris three times prior to this trip so knew what to expect from the accommodation. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely man named Antonio, we found him to be very welcoming and friendly and on telling us that our two rooms (a twin and a triple) were not ready he looked after our suitcases all day in order for us to go out. When we got back that evening we were checked in by a different gentlemen (name unknown) who seemed in a hurry to get us out of his way, so much so that we spent around 20 minutes looking for our rooms!! The rooms are very basic and not very hygienic, our triple had cigarette burns in the bedding, a fan that was not attached to the ceiling properly and pieces of A4 paper stapled to the wall to cover something up. I would say to not expect what you see in their 'staged' photographs! The next day we planned to sightsee and left our keys at reception (you are not allowed to take these away). The hotel is in a good area, very close to the Pigalle metro station. It is quite a seedy area with the Moulin Rogue, but as long as you are with other people it feels quite safe. On return to the hotel that evening, we were told that there was a problem with our triple room and that we would need to be ready and out by 10.30am the next morning to allow for a French family to have our room. We found the manner in which he spoke to us disgusting, there was never an option for us to stay, we were always going to have to move. We argued that having booked the room over 6 months in advance why didn't they just put us somewhere else, to which he said that this family had only called the day before!! I found him to be very threatening and spoke to us with little respect - as though we weren't paying customers. We requested to talk to the manager and were on the phone to him for around an hour. Eventually the manager agreed to reimburse us 60€ for the inconvenience and he stated that he would tell the receptionist to apologise for his behaviour (we never received this apology). We then went to our rooms to get ready for our night out (and pack!). On arrival back to the hotel that evening we were greeted by a night watchman, who gave us our keys. The rest of the stay was standard with minimal problems, however, on our final morning we were checked out by Antonio, who again, treated us well. He had been left a note about the discount to be made, this did not match up with what we had been told, and was only 30€. By this point, I felt that the hotel had offered ridiculous service, which left me with a ruined hen weekend from their sheer incompetence and disrespect for their paying guests. Yet again the manager was put on the phone and he refused to believe the discount that had been offered. In the end Antonio said that he believed us and allowed us the discount on his nose. He then looked after our bags so that we could enjoy the rest of our day. All in all, I would say that this is a standard hotel with terrible service in an interesting area (with the exception of Antonio, who seems to be the only member of staff with his head screwed on). My personal recommendation would be to stay somewhere else, there are plenty of other hotels that are lovely at better prices than this!!

It was a nice hotel, with spacious rooms (for Paris). Clean with courteous staff and a good location near Sacre Coeur. The area was quite nice as well. A bit of a walk to the river but nothing you can't handle. We chose to walk through to lovely street then go the underground Metro route.

The hotel's location isn't near the most desirable location (it's off the red light district, Pigalle) but in the daytime, it's not so bad. The concierge staff are helpful and friendly. The rooms are on the small side but they are relatively clean. In all, for someone who is not in the room most of the time and explore Paris, this hotel is not a bad place to stay. It provides you a decently clean room and a private bathroom.
