May not be what you want!

• This lovely little hotel is a bit away from most of the tourist attractions and too far to walk. You may want to consider a hotel near the Louvre or Place des Pyramides. • The elevator is smaller than your closet. Three persons is a tight fit, one with bags. • The views are very limited, even from the top (8th) floor. • Breakfasts are very expensive, $25, but there are nice restaurants nearby. • The park across the street is a gathering place for really strange people. We would not advise walking nearby at night. • Do NOT order taxis. You will then pay additionally for the taxi from wherever he starts from to the hotel (this could be $30). Better go to the corner and hail a taxi. • Ask for more hangers or you won't be able to hang all your clothes. They will provide them. • The staff is very pleasant and helpful but provides only the advice you request. • The rooms are very tiny though the bed is large and comfortable. No clothes dresser! • Our room electric went off our last night and was not repaired before we departed. • Look out for the mini-bar prices; they are truly expensive.

Vie nocturne: Short drive from hotel

Some Paris tips: • Some of the tours cost more than they're worth. Take a taxi to the Sacre Coeur and enjoy one of the many delightful nearby restaurants, many with music and entertainment. Taxis are there to take you back. • The food at the Moulin Rouge is only fair. Better have a great meal at a really good restaurant and then catch the early show, or wait in a very, very long line for the late show. The show is really great. • The Lido continues to be a spectacular show, better than most in Las Vegas. • Do take a cruise on the Seine River‎, especially in the evening to see the lights, but have dinner at a really good restaurant and only a glass of wine on the cruise. You'll love it! But look at the boats before you buy; some are great and some are old and shabby. You can also have a hop-on-hop-off cruise that stops at many of the attractions and permits you do debark, stay as long as you wish, and catch the next boat, all for a single fare. • The Louvre is not to be missed, but it is so large that you could not visit it all in a week! • Do get a really good Paris map or you will get lost! The free maps are too small and almost illegible or do not show many of the streets which may be very short. • Provide not less than 3 hours before your departure flight. The traffic will crawl and the lines for passport control and security are unbelievable. We made our flight only 5 minutes before departure and ran through the airport! • You will be exhausted when you leave Paris. There is so much to see and it is such an exciting place that you never want to stop moving. And remember, walking can get very tiring. Enjoy.

The good the bad and the really ugly

This was not my best experience... choose this location because it was listed as a 4 star hotel. After I arrived and asked of the services listed. I was informed that information provided for this hotel had been mixed up with one of their other hotels and was not available for this visit. A wrong listing provided and this was in fact a 3 star hotel. No spa, iron, ironing board, fitness room. etc to say the least.I was very disappointed. I couldn't get my needs met. Had to settle for different accomadations. The air conditioner was not properly serviced and had to have a room change. The dirty filter made me ill. I had to pay extra for my ironing when I was to have access to this in my room. It was on and on I was happy to leave to say the least.

Nice enough

Both good and bad impressions. The hotel is nice enough, in a fairly good location. A Velib bike station is located right in front of the hotel, which is a real bonus, if you like to cycle around Paris. The room was pretty small, but we got a room at the top, with a little balcony with a great view. The hotel looks much better in the photos than it does in real life, but it was just fine for a weekend getaway (did not think it was worth the price, but Paris hotels are expensive). The negative about the experience was that there was no iron in the room and they blankly refused to bring one to the room. I needed it to iron a shirt before going out and as housekeeping was not available at that time, and they refused to lend us an iron, I had to find something else to wear to a top restaurant. NOT NICE!!! Really left a bad impression. Would not stay there again because of it. The toiletries were also sparse - only a basic shampoo and a shower gel. No body lotion, no cotton swabs. The shower was broken and they had to come fix it before we could shower.

Use the Velib bike system - register your credit card and 30 minutes is free, with a low fee after that. The best way to see the town, again and again!

Very very little room. Awfully noisy. Anonymous staff (would they ever say "hello !"). Worst value I've ever seen. Worst stay in Paris ever...

Good location

Small room but outfitted with all the necessities - tiny bathtub and shower, flat screen television, decent lighting, windows that open, a small safe in the wardrobe. I was relieved to discover the tiny elevator after learning my room was on the 6th floor. The hotel's driver service - pick up and drop off at CDG Airport - was the best money I spent on my 4 day trip to Paris. The hotel's location was perfect for me - within walking distance of all the museums I wanted to visit. The hotel restaurant and bar was nice, but pricy. Staff was very helpful, no language barrier as they all spoke English. The park outside the hotel door was charming, closes at night so there wasn't a lot of street noise and on Saturday afternoon a Paris club met to play Petanque (seemed to be kind of like bocce ball). Plenty of cafes close by. The hotel is just steps from the Metro, as well as a major Boulevard, making it easy to navigate and find my way back after a day strolling around.

Traveling alone, I liked the lighted Boulevard Sebastipol nearby, and the many cafe options. Very safe, clean street.

Overall a Good Value

There was only one room on the main level and we were given that one. It was next to the manager's office and seemed to be beneath the street level. We had no view from the window except the bottom part of another building beneath the street. A lot of employee noise in the morning. The location was ok and within a mile of the Louve and Notre Dame. Very close to a rail station. There was a public park across the street from the hotel where people loitered around until the park was closed. Heard lots of sirens, but never saw anything and never really felt unsafe. This may just be typical of Paris. The hotel staff were very nice. Overall a good value

Good Location, but Tulip Slightly Faded

The Golden Tulip is in the 3r arr. of Paris and sits in the middle of a garment district with numerous wholesale fashion houses. There are also several very good restaurants within walking distance. The hotel is an old 8-story building that has been extensively remodeled and decorated in a very modern design. Our room, while small, was on the 6th floor and had a balcony with a table and two chairs where you could drink coffee and watch the people in the large park across the street. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was excellent. Despite the extensive renovations, however, we woke up at 3 a.m. the first night to discover water dripping from the ceiling into the middle of our bed. The front desk staff was very cooperative the next morning in moving us to a similar room for the remainder of our six-day stay, even though the hotel engineer contended that there was no leak (the blistering plaster and water stains on the ceiling notwithstanding). The phone in the second room did not work. The night clerk said he would report it, but it was never fixed. However, we were on vacation and did not really need the phone. Despite the repair problems, the hotel was comfortable and the staff generally helpful. I would stay there again since the area is near Metro and it is a pleasant 1 mile walk to the Seine.

There are several excellent restaurants within a 3-4 block walk--Moroccan, Basque and a whole alley passage of Indian restaurants.
