Upgraded room
When we checked in, we rec'd an upgrade to a suite on the 16th floor over looking the bay. It was usually a $2,000 a night room. It was great.

Bathroom needs a fan
The room was very nice, but the bathroom was a little mildewy, probably because there was no exhaust fan in the window.

BEAUTIFUL HOTEL FOR WEEKEND GETAWAY
The Mark Hopkins is a beautiful, classic hotel. The bed was perfect. The room was a little small, but this is a very old hotel that has been retrofitted to meet the needs of the modern traveler (ie: tv, internet access, king size bed, etc) which takes up some extra room. The room service food was excellent. The only complaint, and unfortunately a big one, is the noise level outside. We were on the 12th floor facing the main entrance. All we heard all night long was the doorman's whistle, screaming guests down in the parking area, car horns, etc. We had to turn on the TV to block out the noise so we could sleep. The windows are old so there is no sound proofing. Other than the noise, we had a great visit. Classic San Francisco!

Great Location, great view
The feather top king size bed provided the most wonderful sleep a person could have. The room was beautiful and spacious. The concierge was pleasant and tried to be helpful, but could not provide anything beyond what you can get easily on your own on line. Top of the Mark has great views, but it is outragiously expensive. Room service, on site parking, and and all other amenities were much too costly. This was all offset by being in the center of it all, 3 cable car lines stop outside the hotel. Muni bus stops within a block, Chinatown and Union Square are only a few blocks away.

A perfect stay at the Mark!
Stayed for only one nite, and it had everything: best room, the Top of the Mark was breathtaking and served excellent appetizers...AND there was LIVE music & dancing - not to mention the VIEWS! And just a hop skip and a jump (on the trolley or cab) to the best restaurant in town - our favorite, "tadich grill".

True San Francisco
Loved the hotel. Didn't realize til we got home that it was the hotel at the beginning of the movie Bullett with Steve McQueen. The staff was very friendly, room was very clean, bathroom was huge, and bed was very comfortable. Pricey, but worth it. It was definitely what I expected from San Francisco and in a great location!

Go up to the restaurant/bar at the "Top of the Mark" just for a drink and the view, but don't plan on dinner. Service was terrible and it is way too expensive for the quality. But its worth going up for the 360 degree view of the city and the history of the place.

All staff were welcoming and friendly. Great view from our room. Very clean and happy to meet with requests. Best views of San Francisco from Top of the Mark lounge. Good location at the top of Nob Hill (very steep walk to get there but you can catch the cable car). Would highly recommend and would stay there again.

Business Traveler
The Mark Hopkins is an exquisite hotel, reminiscent of the classic luxury hotels. It is wonderfully appointed and the rooms are quite comfortable. Perched a top Nob Hill, it is an ideal location to take a taxi or trolley down to the business district in a matter of minutes. The views from the Top of the Mark are superb. I highly recommend having cocktails and enjoying the night views of the city.

There are several resaurants in the vicinity and a quick ride by taxi or trolley down California street. Tadlich's is a San Francisco classic for great seafood and comfort food. A great place to have lunch...it's always packed.
