Axel Hotel Barcelona & Urban Spa

Pour un séjour très gai !

Extremly nice staff, warm, and fun,,,, too bad no fridge in the rooms,,, and one furniture in bad condition... But i recommend this hotel, and shall go back, as [website], have good prices,,, i would not pay the full rate,,, 250 euros,,, but 150 euros with [website] was ok....

This hotel is close to everything, the rooms are nice and modern, and the staff was very nice. Good place for couples, gay or straight. Even though the hotel is marketed to gay people, there were just as many straight couples staying there. I will always stay at Axel when I return to Barcelona.

Just returned from a trip to Barcelona where I stayed at the Axel Hotel & Spa. This is a great hotel that is convenient for walking around best spots in downtown Barcelona. Easy to get to the Catalunya Square and to the best shopping locations. Loved the spa and Wellness Center that is part of the Axel and enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. Staff at the Axel are very friendly and helpful to those of us that need some help communicating with very limited Spanish speaking skills. I will definitely be back to stay at the Axel Hotel again!

The hotel is located inside an old building which seems to have been toally gutted leaving only the two walls facing the street. The interior design is totally contemporary. The water closet is in a closet, but the rest of the bathroom, including the shower is partially open to the rest of the room. Our shower was especially funky in that you could open the blinds to the interior courtyard and essentially be showering in public. The hotel was comfortable, included a just OK breakfest but was very expensive. Still it was a fun place to be and well located to gay venues in Barcelona.

Super friendly service with a great vibe. Rooms were well-appointed with a great location. Walking distance to most bars and great restaurants, as well as the buses, metro, La Rambla and Plaza Catalunya. The wifi here is terrible, though; there are two computers in the "business center" on the first floor that are much faster.

Most of the things in the listed amenities are not accurate. After mentioning this to hotel management, nothing was done... [...] Inaccuracies from listing of ameneties on hotel description were as follows--- I had booked a premium room --- Listed room as having an exclusive space with Living Room (NONE - not even a chair), Listed Living Room as having a personal computer and printer (NONE - there was not even a living room, much less a computer and printer. Management laughed at this, as they don't even have a printer in the business center.) Listed room as having a shower and a hydromassage bathtub (None - the room did not even have a bath tub of any kind - did have shower, but certainly not a hydromassage bathtub. Again management laughed at this). With the booking, it was listed [...] that WiFi was free of charge... Hardly the case, as the charge was almost $20.00 US per day. Again management refused to do anything about this. I do not recommend this hotel.. highly overpriced and very disappointing on many levels --- left a strong feeling of feeling ripped off... and I was. Management was not accomodating at all and offered no apologies for the misrepresentation.

the property was gorgeous, the staff was friendly and very helpful with all of my needs, the rooftop lounge had breathtaking views of barcelona and i couldn't have been happier with my experience! i will definitely be going back!
